A Gardener’s Reward:

The family is enjoying my vegetables! Our smaller tomatoes (Sweet Cluster, Early Girl) are ripening very quickly now. The weather has just been perfect. Even if we are having tomatoes for breakfast, in our lunch sandwiches and as a side dish for dinner, it is too much. I am giving some away to neighbors but wanted to let you now that tomatoes are freezing very easily. Just put them raw and uncut into your zip lock bag after washing them thoroughly. When you’re ready to use them, thaw them in a strainer or under running cold water. The skin will come off easily and your tomatoes are ready to use in a spaghetti sauce, soup or any other cold weather dish!

 Our favorite way to enjoy the tomatoes:

In a sandwich which consists of my husbands sourdough baguette and home made mayonnaise! (After watching the movie Julie and Julia we know now that the bowl has to be warm to mix the mayonnaise! How many egg/oil concoctions have we wasted over the years!) Enjoy, or as the Swiss say: En Guete!
